Caroline Berton
FOUNDER
“The sun never sees the shadow”
Leonardo DeVinci
Creating for you an object that is soft, warm, reassuring, radiant... second nature for Caroline, mother of three children and founder of Comme un rayon de soleil.
“I grew up in Martinique, in a sunny atmosphere. I very quickly realized how essential it was for me.
At the time, I traveled a lot, in the Caribbean, in South America. From this period, I remember faces, landscapes, an art of living, but above all a light that is both comforting and bright.”
After an intense first professional life in the north of France, marked by meeting many stylists and creatives, Caroline dreams of returning to Martinique, to share with her family the warm and contemplative life that marked her childhood.
How was Comme un rayon de soleil born?
It was during a Christmas meal in 2015, using a bicycle rim, customized with an LED strip and a switch, that she imagined a wooden object, “a noble material”, whose soothing halo warms hearts and minds.
In March 2016, after several hours spent at her workbench, she designed the comforting object she imagined. Comme un rayon de soleil comes into being. And the bicycle wheels become luminous wooden circles,
and more precisely in solid beech, a noble and recyclable material.
Ethical and responsible
His lighting fixtures reflect his philosophy. They are made in France, in a work assistance establishment and service (ESAT) in Antony, Île-de-France. A pride for the designer. “Helping these young people, whose degree of disability is more or less high, to reintegrate was essential in my eyes.”
Added to this is an environmentalist ethic: the brand of paint used is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, water-based, with recyclable containers.
Sensitive, passionate, committed. “It always seemed logical to me that my family would feel comfortable at home.
Comme un rayon de soleil, it’s my way of making life beautiful for others.”
